A Bit ABOUT STEPHEN
This is the section where you can get to know me a bit. The problem is, that might take us awhile. Somedays I feel as if I have lived 10,000 lives in one lifetime (and I’m not done living yet! If you are breathing, then the best is still yet to come.) But here are the important things.
I have been married to my beautiful wife, Sarah for close to two decades! (She is a bad a**.) We have two lovely, creative children, Evangelyn Belle and Isaac Brighton. (Hence the name Brightbell.) My family is my greatest joy and best art.
I have worked in creative industries most of my life, starting at the age of five when I got my first drum set and sold tickets to family members to come watch me play. (My first official gig was at the age of thirteen at a nightclub called The Fresh Avenue. I played drums for my death metal band (which will remain unnamed here) and successfully ran the audience out of the building by lighting smoke bombs on the stage. (We didn’t have access to pyrotechnics, so I made my own.) From there my flare for drama led me to win a few best acting awards in high school, performing as Death in the play Everyman and as John The Baptist in Salome’s Dance.
Since then, I have toured the world with my eclectic world music group Songs of Water, performing everywhere from nightclubs to theaters, hippie festivals, mansions and lawn mower sheds (stories for another day.)
I have founded and led a creative arts organization, built and produced a podcast, composed music for film, authored several books on the relationship between art, faith and culture, worked as a creative coach, business journalist, non-profit marketing consultant and event curator.
I have built and operated several service industry businesses (I once donned the name Captain Squeegee.) Are you tired yet?
Lastly, I hold a deep faith… actually, that deep faith has held me and has remained consistent in the midst of my many inconsistencies.
All that to say, cut me and I bleed a passion to help artists, authors, musicians, creators, choreographers, small business owners, personal brands, non-profits, aerialists, and activists ring a bright sounding bell, one that feels like home and calls us to adventure all in the same sound.
I hope you will give me a chance to leverage my experience to serve your heart’s passion. -
Stephen
